Follow the Yellow Brick Road

“It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.” Paul Bryant

SOOO….   My lovely precious friend, the Iliotibial Band is better, (as well as his friend the wee patella).  I made him better. I stretched and cajoled, mashed and rolled on hard foam roller, varied my running technique, running shoes, cross trained, stopped running (gasp),  jogged, limped, swam, swam, moped around, found new body awareness, alignmnent and movement through gyrotronics, complained to friends and family (sorry), worried, stretched some more, googled advice, gave myself reassuring pep talks and I dare say…. I am on the other side, knock on wood.  I can run again, and all pieces of my life can come back together, (yes that’s a bit dramatic), but seriously my brain function is limited at best without mileage, some of you may have noticed….I am truly looking forward to a more productive all around summer with my brain/running back.  At first I would have said I got off the Yellow Brick Road to Ironman, but turns out I never really left.  Just SLOWED down a bit.  And on my wonderfully hard 80mi bike/30min run today, I  had a glimpse of the Emerald City- just 10 weeks of “travel” left!  I had some more stuff to say, but I got hungry and need to take the kids to a source of water entertainment… Happy Fourth of July weekend, it is great to be in this country!

So glad your better now. You, my friend, are the type of girl that nothing can take away the goals of your heart and mind. Find your glittery red shoes and keep running!
