Losing Track

What day is it?”
It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

Summer is a great time to lose track, to live in the moment, to be happy with the day, no picking favorites…

Today I was reminded of this as I got lost in my projects for the day, it just flew by.  The joy of working and completing and creating was not tarnished by a ticking clock or a wishing it was a better day or a Friday.

It continued as I tackled a swim session today.  For those of you who swim, you know the challenge of counting your laps, counting up, counting down, adding up, calculating…(yes, I’ve tried and own one of those lap counter thing a majigs, you have to remember to push the button) The first 500 of warm up and drills went as planned, 4 laps, plus 6 laps… Then the 2000 straight swim. I made it to 500, 10 laps, after that I just kept swimming.  And swimming.  40 laps, I know I can count to 40. But when you are so connected to another feeling, like wow, I feel great, I feel strong, Oh I should breathe more, gosh I’m not tired, what if I can swim like this in Ironman…. Laps? what laps?  I was Swimming.  Losing track of all things but the moment.  In the end, I swam more than I know necessary based on my total time, and previous race times.  It didn’t matter today.  Today I Lost Track and I loved it.
